Basement Guest room DONE

Ok, big day is tomorrow!

But before I go I just want to share with you the DONE basement Guest room which my mother is currently enjoying! We finished it the last minute, finding and fixing all the things I needed to fix except for 1 detail....

Anyway, let's start shall we?

As luck would have it, I was lucky to find the similar Tahari Curtain Patterned curtain at my local TJ Maxx on CLEARANCE! I just couldn't believe it, it was meant to be. The color is different though, the new one is colored grey, but I thought it would work since the bedding and bed is grey and I think it does.
Finally got to cover the ugly storm door too
I wanted to get a screen initially as suggested by Jessie over at Mix & Chic, however, I couldn't find something tall enough that would cover that door that was affordable too! So curtains it it :-)
Finally got a wardrobe too

After a LONG search I also finally found the perfect size and look of a wardrobe online 1 week before my mother's arrival. You wouldn't believe it, but I found this at BIG LOTS
Sauder Storage Amroire from Big Lots for $179!
The dark espresso color was just what I was looking for. It has great storage inside and like I said, the size is perfect for this small alcove here. My hubs assembled it and it was not easy, I guess that was the only downside to this thing, but even he couldn't go against agreeing with me on this perfect choice.

also spruced up the desk area

I also fixed this area up already, adding decorative trays and containers for all my mom's things and putting personal photos of our family and her grandkids so she won't be too homesick while she's with us.

Everything looks better on trays. :-)
I also found the perfect Side table on the left side of the bed too!

Pure White Nolita Tall 2-Drawer Nightstand for $123

I really love the way it looks and the price I think is pretty reasonable. I plan to change the knobs someday to give it more personality. But I love it's clean lines and the height is perfect.

Now, the one detail I haven't been able to tackle yet and it is the side table on the right side.

Very narrow space

As you can see I had to put the shelf on it's side  since putting it on it's usual position as before would make opening the closet door impossible.

I ordered a small tall table for this but it didn't work out and had to return it. I need a very narrow tall table here and I think I may have found one that needs tweaking... that is, if I have time after the baby comes, so this will do for now, my mom says it doesn't bother her at all.

That's all for now folks!
Wish me luck and say a prayer for the baby & me tomorrow!

Also, if you wanna see the BEFORE & AFTER, here is the LINK!

Love you all!

Have  A Wonderful Weekend, I know We Will!!!!

Final Touches in the Master Bedroom /Nursery

Thank you all for your positive comments on our Master bedroom/Nursery and all your well wishes for me and baby as well! They are truly appreciated!!!!

This week is the week for my baby's arrival,  and so before I go on a little bit of  'maternity break',  I just wanted to share with you the final touches of this room and the basement guest room in the next couple of days.

Personalized crib

I added this beautiful name decal from JUSTFORYOU DECALS on ETSY...

I know usually these decals go on the nursery wall, but since we don't have the real nursery ready yet, I put her name here! I think it's really pretty. :-) I also added the gold glitter bunting decal I got from TARGET ($12.99 for 1 set) to add to the design.

Lovely Name Decal up close
I just did the bunting on the other side of the crib
I also added the bunting on our changing table so that the furnitures will match!

We also finished out Master Bedroom gallery wall...

Wall of Love :-) for me and hubs

I got the LOVE print from ETSY as well from MISS POPPY DESIGN.

And with all of these, this room is D-O-N-E!

Next time I'll show you the DONE Basement Guest room which my mom is currently enjoying by the way! So glad she's here, I'm so swollen all over I can hardly do anything at this point! THANK GOD for moms and all they do for us 'kids'!!!

Have a Great Week Everyone!

Master Bedroom with Nursery REVEAL!

WE are SO READY for our baby!

As of this posting, today may be the last day at the clinic before I go on Maternity leave.

I was planning to go on leave next week, but with the way things are going, I 'm just no super woman and my contractions, though still irregular, are becoming increasingly 'noticeable' for me.

So, let me share with you the room that we will be sharing with our baby who'll be with us in a few more days! Let's start the tour shall we?

Changing area as soon as we walk in
The changing area one more time
I made some minor changes here...

Tried to change the matting of the frame to gold - not working for me
So changed it back to white. :-)

Added these scrapbook stickers on my picture ledge

Crib by our window
I added beautiful lighting from"Kichler Lighting" to brighten up the space!!!!
Another angle - Giraffe is a gift from my sister

See our Diaper Bag all packed and ready!

Crib was a baby shower gift from our friends

The Bird mobile is a gift, its from Land of Nod.

I really love the modern and clean lines of our crib. The price is pretty reasonable too. I used 2 mattresses since I didn't want to keep on bending over, and I luckily got so many gorgeous crib sheets that I'm so excited to use!

The pillows are just for display of course (SIDS precaution, no blankets and pillows around right?)
The bedding here now is from Land of Nod, blanket is from Target

Used my JA sheets and added a few pillows...

The "I LOVE US"  custom pillow is something I made from
The 2 pink velvet ones are from IKEA

I got the adorable Gold Typography by LINDSAYLETTERS from HOBBY LOBBY
Right now, more of the stuff here are mine, except for the Boon bottle warmer and the Baby Spa Machine. That'll soon change since this is where I plan to put my breast pump,  extra bottles  & other feeding paraphernalia.

Belly Book by the way is my Pregnancy journal. I also keep a good stash of Baby THANK
YOU cards close by :-)

Where OUR stuff are - well, some of it at least ;-)
There you have it friends! All set and ready to go for life with our new baby!

Have a Wonderful Week!

P.S. I would like to express my deepest THANKS for all your kind words about my last post!!!
I will miss my 'other kids' for sure too!

Being A Doctor first

Hello Friends!

This week has been crazy busy again for me. I have been busy preparing for a talk for this summit...

And at the same time getting my 'other house' in order... That is my CLINIC.

I don't want to leave my patients hanging in the air when I go on Maternity leave soon, so my schedule has been booked to the teeth. :-)

Anyway, like I've said before, PEDIATRICS is my FIRST LOVE and will always be the career for me, so for you all my decorating-loving friends, although you know I am also passionate about decorating and my home in general, I thought I'd share this super short video of ME on how I feel about my first love...

Hope you all have a wonderful day my friends and wish me luck!

Basement Guest Room PROGRESS AT LAST!

Last year, I wrote a post on my PLANS for the Basement Guest Room HERE.

Sadly, this plan was shoved for the a lot of other projects in and out of our home!

And because our current Upstairs Guest Room will be turned into our Nursery soon, and with my mom coming to help us out, we needed to fix our Basement Guest room FAST!

A futon is not the most relaxing bed for 3 month

So this Labor day weekend, hubs, son and I started on improving this space!

I think this will be comfy enough for my mom for a while,  don't you think?
We had to cover this hole going to the crawl space

My Dad made a wooden cover for this that would slide in and out but even with that ingenious cover, it was still an EYE SORE. So I thought of adding the curtains....

I added a Sisal Rug and got the Upholstered Headboard from WALMART months ago & it had been sitting in the box in storage for a while, bought the Mattress the same day we set up the room (taking advantage of Labor day sales ;-)) ,Then got the quilt set & Bed skirt from TARGET, all other things in the room including the makeshift side table are all ours.

We were pretty happy with the result but we're not done yet...

1) We need to add a small closet here on this narrow space beside our old TARGET armoire where a TV is in right now.

2) Fix up the is side of the room. The table is way too big and I have to do some arranging still.

3) Cover up this huge storm door. I am thinking of curtains again or do something with the door, not quite sure yet. Any suggestions?

Reflections from the mirrors inside the room

I think my mother will be quite pleased with her room for the next couple of months. :-)
Have a Great Week!
