Making a house your OWN

Most of us Do NOT buy custom-built or new houses.

Most of us "inherit" all the good and bad that comes with a house second hand.

Do you still remember your house before you moved in to it?

Well, I found these old pictures of our living room space before we bought the house....

That's me with our realtor

We love the house, but the decor was so not us

When we finally moved in, this was how it looked...

Still no better than before :-)

We added this media center

And eventually it looked like this...

Simple blues

Then this...

Spring greens

To finally this...

Summery Yellows

Isn't it amazing how we try to make the house OUR OWN by the furniture and decor we choose?

I find it so interesting how my tastes evolve (and how my stuff grows!), as we continue to dwell in the house that used to belong to another.   :-)

Have a Great Day!

  2. Wow, now that is a transformation! Do you still have the glass block columns? Those are interesting... The windows and doors really make the room, and I LOVE your newest look, it really is stylin and chic.

  5. This is gorgeous. Your furnishings are fabulous and I'm such a sucker for anything in that Dwell Studios pattern. I have two rooms with curtains in that pattern (in the yellow and blue). Perhaps grey is next. Those chairs are seriously stunners. Anyhow, I love it all.

  6. The "evolution" of your house is impressive. You definitely have the taste and the touch and of course the resources too to make it like your "home" now. Great job Vel. I was so tempted to message you yesterday because of a project on my wall haha. But I did it as inspired by your dining wall. thanks for the inspiration.

  11. Fabulous transformation with your personal decor..which I give you heads up!! Our homes have to be an extension of the owners, otherwise, you haven't made any home yours and this one is just that!! Enjoy your week.
