Horizontal Fence REVEAL

Hello friends!

First of all I need to apologize to you for being M.I.A. for the last 2 weeks!
Life happens. And in my case, it was snow balling like an avalanche! ;-)

Aside from Sophia's upcoming birthday (preparations which some of you have seen on IG), we had baby-sitting issues to deal with, since my mother had to go home urgently for my sick grandmother. And then my in-laws arrived, and my other son joined band, and so on and so forth.

And so even if I did have lots of projects done that I wanted to share with you, I just couldn't yet.
Did I mention I also did a talk on vaccines at a recent Immunization summit here?

Yeah - life and work, all playing up together to make me put my blogging and reading aside!
But I'm back and I can't wait to see what you guys have been up to - I want to get inspired (design-wise) again!

Anyway, without further adieu, here is our new fence!

Ta-da!

We were able to add a huge amount of play and running space for the kids with this new fence and we're absolutely in love with it!

Even our neighbors have complimented on how great the new fence looks!

BEFORE

Here it is from the inside...

Huge new space

The old fence was only up until the cemented portion of our yard...
Remember this?

Finally covered up our unsightly pond here

We have been enjoying this space a lot, since the weather right now is perfect for it.

Sophia loves playing here and we don't worry about her falling down at all!

Perfect spot for a hammock in the future right?

I don't know why we had to wait so long?!
I have to give full credit to my hubs for this. Because although he did hire some workers to build the fence and fix the yard, he was the 'architect' behind this all. The workers did not have any experience building this kind of fence, and will the help of my husband's great research, he was able to give the right instructions and plans! I am just so amazed by him!

View of the back of the house from our extended yard

Oh, and remember this too?

Another nice spot now in our back yard

Now that the yard extension is done, we are planning to have Sophia's birthday party here!
And so if your wondering about  the flamingos all around, those are actually in preparation for her
FLAMINGLE BIRTHDAY PARTY!

I will share more on our next post dears!

Have a Wonderful Week!

Crushing on Horizontal Fencing

When I shared with you last week about our Backyard Make-over HERE
I didn't mention that we were also gonna change the type of fencing too!

And right now we are seriously crushing on these...

Yup, it's wooden Horizontal fencing!

It can be cool low...

... or high

...tight-knit

I seriously have to thank Cassie for this...

Hi Sugarplum
...when she shared her gorgeous new horizontal fence for her home.
It made me think why not use this kind of fencing on our yard extension too?!

Thank you Cassie for this inspiration! You can see more of her Horizontal fence HERE!
Don't you just love blogging and all the inspiration it brings?!!!

Can't wait to share with you ours! Almost done!

Have a Wonderful Weekend!

Fixing up our back yard and fence

You guys already know what our back yard/ patio looks like...

Yup, looks pretty much done doesn't it?

Well, it's really not.

You see, thru the magic of editing, I usually do not share with you guys what's on either side of this deck!

And there's a very good reason why I don't because it is A MESS!

To the RIGHT

To the LEFT
We tried fixing this sloping part of the yard on our own... several times. Weeds just seem to love it here no matter what we try and the sloping land doesn't make it inviting at all!

Yup, really, really bad!
To top it all, when we moved in to this house in 2010, the part of the fence that is currently wood, was destroyed (remember, we bought this house foreclosed), so my husband put up this 'temporary' fence to close it off.

Other side
It has definitely seen better days and needs to go - fast!

And since we're replacing this fence anyway, we decided to do more changes...

.. like EXTEND the back yard over all!

Yup, we're extending on where the marks are at. That way, we have more room in the back that's fenced up, for the kids to run in.

It's a snow-ball effect I tell yeah.

So over all, this is what needs to be done:

1) Level off the ground on both sides of the patio and put some plants on it too
2) Remove the old fence and build a new  to extend the yard.
3) Cover up the pond ( oh yes, there is a pond too, small and ugly too ) and plant something nice on that area

Sounds easy looking at just 3 here on the list, but I know it is gonna be T-O-U-G-H since we started the snow ball rolling already!

Will tell you more about the plans on  my next post!

Have a Great Weekend Friends!
