Now that you've seen the "finished product" a.k.a. Library/office, I wanted to share to you what it looked like before...
Not bad really, just a bit messy I think - hubby had a itty-bitty desk |
But compared to this one, sigh.. :-) |
Reading area before |
Study/reading area Now |
Part of the office before |
Office now |
Like any project this is still a work in progress. We still need to do the following:
1) Add Bookcase lighting
2) Build a Library Ladder
3) Get more storage for unsightly clutter to be placed at the bottom shelves
4) Upgrade ( meaning spruce it up) the old office bookcase
5) Find the right rug
6) Find the right table/floor lamp for the desk area
Love the blue at the back of the white shelves!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jill - we love that blue too!
DeleteThat's an amazing makeover! The built-ins looks fantastic in the space, and the blue really pops. I like the table and chairs, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lisa, we worked hard on this and we really are getting to use more of this room now. :-)
Deletelove the details the amount of shelve units...the color is such an accent to book spines...the black and white of pics...really a great job...and congrats..on the example of how big can be placed in small spaces...
ReplyDeleteThankyou Kathryn! it is such a tiny space so we knew we had to go up and use more space there. As you can see, we have too many knick-knacks that need space for display, and this hug shelf really did it for us. :-)
DeleteThat is the BEST wall ever! I'm a book nerd so this is like my dream come true. Thanks for sharing! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks Mandee! although as you can see, we need more books, which I think won't be a problem for us "nerds"! Thanks for visiting!
DeleteJust hopped over from Better After! Your new built in looks awesome! We're in the process of completing one as well! How long did it take to complete the whole project?(how2home.wordpress.com/2012/09/16/how-to-built-in-bookshelf/) Great post!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you, can't wait to see it! Honestly, my hubby did it over 4 weekends - so that's total of 8 days. :-) Good luck!
