Busy Bee Me

Sorry for being M.I.A. on blogging. Been crazy busy with last days at my old clinics, recent visit to Atlanta for the 4th and finally trying to start packing my kitchen...

See some of the stuff I'm dealing with!!!

Any suggestions on how to organize and pack some of these? Remember I still need to feed my family during the entire process? Any TIPS will be greatly appreciated. :-)

We brought something inside this trailer all the way from Atlanta!!!! Yup, I found a great bargain that I had to have for my home , can you guess what it is?! It's such a deal that I even had a hitch attached to my van just to get this baby home. I'll let you know what it is soon!!!

Before the 4th I also had to say good-bye to the wonderful staff I worked with over at CHESI. It was bittersweet and I will always be grateful to these people  for  their support & friendship.

Good-byes were not only sad between me and the staff, but with most of my patients too and this one touched me the most and I will miss her terribly!!!

And lastly, some good news...

So it is real! After more than 2 years of blogging, I got me some google-love! Not much, but still so happy for getting something I do for fun!!!

Hope you all have a Wonderful Week!
Would love to hear your thoughts! Please share away...

  2. awww, so glad to see you had a nice 4th and such sweet notes from your office and patients! Don't know what to do with the kitchen stuff except to organize it in bins and set it in another room and/or set up a mini kitchen somewhere else in the house? downstairs maybe? Looks a bit overwhelming! Can't wait to see what you brought home. Is that check from Ad Choices? congratulations!

  3. Vel,
How long have you been told that demo and build will take in the kitchen? I found there are definitely ways to continue cooking but access to a sink / sanitation / food safety was my biggest concern / largest challenge. Went through so many disposable containers, plates, utensils rather than risking it. Outdoor gas grills are lifesavers in the kitchen remodeling life; can even **bake** on them with a little practice (brownies work great). I also purchased a stand-alone plug-in infrared burner (like caterers use) so I could cook eggs and breakfast items inside and at a more controlled heat level ... now the burner works beautifully on buffet set-ups to serve hot items or to keep dishes warm until every one shows up. A countertop combo convection / toaster oven can be another source for baking and heating food; really like my Cuisinart one. And even if you are going to have an installed microwave in the new kitchen, for $100 you can buy a countertop one for interim cooking and then resell or donate if you don't need to keep it around after the remodel. Fridge / freezer in the garage (we have our second one there) or move your current fridge there during the remodel until it can come back in to the house. Really, a formal dining room could be an option for the fridge storage too, cause during the remodel I doubt you'll be hosting formal dining parties ;) I bought metal storage shelving units and placed in the dining room, moved all the kitchen storage (pans etc + pantry food) to those shelves, after the remodel used the shelves for organized storage in the garage. Hope this helps! Robin

  7. I don't have a family, but when I moved, I kept a "survival kit" box where I had easy things to eat and feed the kittens. This box never went with the movers and stayed with me. Good luck for packing everything that doesn't go in the "survival kit" box!!!

  8. I'm not good when it comes to kitchen stuff. When I saw the photo collages, I thought maybe you had a photo booth in the uhaul, but can't wait to see what it really is...congrats on the new job. I know your former colleagues and patients will miss you.
