BookShelves upgrade

Like I said before, I had a few things I needed to fix in the library. Just so you remember, here they are again...

1) Add Bookcase lighting
2) Build a Library Ladder
3) Get more storage for unsightly clutter to be placed at the bottom shelves
4) Upgrade ( meaning spruce it up) the old office bookcase
5) Find the right rug
6) Find the right table/floor lamp for the desk area
7) Fix the gaps in between the bookshelves lattices
Well, we got 2 things done already!

Here is the first one - #7 DONE!

BEFORE

AFTER

I know, this change is not that obvious. But because we just overlapped the lattices on top of each other (cutting them one by one would be a real pain), we had this huge gap in between the overlaps to deal with. To fill the gaps, we used plain white  Foam boards since it is much easier to cut and measure this material than real wood. And besides we were only filling up gaps right?!

Then we took care of #1..

Picture lighting from Menards $26

Better night view

With room lights on

and with room lights off

Now we only have these to deal with...

You guys helped me a lot for #5 about finding the right rug. I will show you my choice as soon as I can. :-)
Have a Wonderful Day!

  3. Vel, the lights look fantastic. I love your selection. I can also appreciate how you must love the fact that the gaps are now gone. That kind of thing bothers me too.
