Thanksgiving Table

Hello Friends!

How was your weekend? 

Ours was BUSY! Went to the city to visit our son and roamed around the zoo the whole day, followed by a day of shopping for some essentials the next day, then attended our groups' sponsored Quiz bee before heading back home!

But before we left, I had a fun time trying out my decor for this coming Thanksgiving!

Simple Thanksgiving Centerpiece

I was inspired when I saw these gorgeous decorative Kale at Walmart a couple of weeks ago and knew then that I will be using them for Thanksgiving.

I added the white pumpkins from the Living room Halloween Decor (which is all gone by now btw),

and added some of my Brass candlesticks and the 2 brass partridges I scored at the Antique Mall a month ago.

I really lobe the mix of purples and greens

I used my Jonathan Adler Plates as chargers and used my vintage Fire King set for my setting with my vintage gold flatware

The chalkboard place mat and Place cards are from Target I scored a couples of months back.

The napkins are vintage VERA NEUMANN.

Since Christmas is around the corner, I moved my sofa table from the living room and Federal Mirror from the Breakfast area into this room.

I love ho the mirror reflects the Dining room well

I just placed my glass canisters with left over candies and goodies from Halloween and just added more of the white pumpkins that used to be in the Living room.

The buffet decor

The Buffet Cabinet just had the same elements as the Dining table - kale and brass!

I just love the fresh vibe and colors these beauties bring to my home

Did you notice my new lamps?

It's the Franklin Lamp Base from TARGET

I love the aged brass and warm walnut look of this large lamp and thought it would be perfect for this cold season.

My table runner was from Target as well, the coasters were from Dwell Studio

Decorating for Thanksgiving did not stop there. 

I also did some purging and cleaning here...

My RH French Casement Double cabinet is now all neat

I really LOVE this cabinet but still need to put in some cabinet lighting on this baby.

Someday...:-)

All we need now is the turkey!

Christmas Dining Room and Thanksgiving 2013

I withheld showing my Dining room up until now since I told you before when I shared with you my Snowflake chandelier that I needed to make something for this room, and I finally did!

This is what I made...

A Gift Wrap Paper Wreath

I got this wonderful idea from Kate Riley over at "Centsational Girl" when she shared how she made this Wrapping Paper Wreath HERE. 

I just added metallic tacks around on my version

I also bought Kate's Giftwrap from her Spoonflower shop HERE. 

Simple but pretty

I matched the wreath with my paper place mats as well!

Used my Antique Store score of Fireking gold-rimmed plates and bowl for my table
Gold flatware also an Antique store score
Goblets were from Jonathan Adler's Home line with HSN years ago and Capiz coasters were from the Philipines

Went simple on my Buffet table with my Apothecary jars getting snow and just ornaments.

I did not have another smaller tree to hang my sentimental ornaments at, but thought of placing them all on display on my mirrored shelves in the Dining!

I set up a table for 8 this year since we decided to have the kids in the grown-ups table too !

We had a very good and pleasant Thanksgiving recalling all the things we were thankful for...

... and made the usual Thanksgiving/Grateful Ornament we always make during Thanksgiving afterwards!

Thanksgiving Feast 2012

We celebrated Thanksgiving this year at our home once more, joined by 2 of our closest friends and their families. It was also made extra-special with my Mother's presence since this was her very 1st Thanksgiving ever (yes, we Filipinos do not have thanksgiving back in the Philippines)!

Let's start of with the kid's table...

Turkey-ful table

 I got most of the stuff from Target at 50% off after Halloween. The napkins though were from Walmart.



Paper Lanterns to set the mood

I also hung these paper lanterns (also from TARGET) to make the spce more festive for the kids. I love it so much, it's gonna stay up until the Holiday season is over! :-)

I used my gold-rimmed FireKing plates ( scored from an Antique Mall) and small glass goblets to make the table a bit more "serious" for the kids. I wanted them to feel that their table is just as special as the grown-ups table too.

The kids had Sopas (macaroni noodle soup), Pinoy-style Spaghetti, Mashed potatoes, Chicken barbeque, Sweet Potatoe Pie and of course, Turkey. They had to eat first since some of the kids still needed assistance from their mommies. :-)

We gad Turkey of course, Chicken barbecue, Morcon (ground beef wrapped in sandwich steak with special sauce), Sopas, Camaron Rebosado (fried breaded shrimp) Rice, Mashed potatoes & Cranberry Relish.

We all had a sumptous meal and a lot to be thankful for this past year. At the end of the meal, we made our yearly Souvenier ornament with all the things we we are thankful for writtin inside.

I also wanted to share with you some of our group photos taken on this very special day...

Thanksgiving Table - Grown-up style

Like I mentioned in my previous post on our friends in Chicago came to visit us for this important holiday and I really wanted to make things extra-special for them and of course for my family. 

You already know my Dining room was all set-up for this occassion, so now all I did was add on the dinnerware and the cutlery. Here it is pre-dinner...

All Ready!

I added ponsettias for some fresh flowers and greenery since my table was already jam-pakced! I folded the napkins following this super simple instructions on how to do the Diamond fold.

I used my HSN Jonathan Adler glasses  & silverware and added a Champagne flute for you know what.   I used paper placemats I brought from Horchow on clearance for $9 for 50 pcs.

I used my plain gold lined dinnerware I bought from Walmart 2 years ago. Along with the red chargers I've had since 5 years ago. The reindeer place card holders were actually photo holders from Kohls I bought last year!

The finishing touch - FOOD!!!!

Our menu consisted of : Rice, Pancit palabok, Baked salmon, Honey-baked Ham, Lechon Kawali, Kare-kare, Cranberry relish and of course stuffed turkey!!

Desserts

Dessert consisted of Pumpkin pie, cream puffs and Brazo de Mercedes

YUM!

I eventually had to remove the centerpieces to make room for more important stuff... :)

At the end of dinner, we made our Thanksgiving souvenirs - I started this last year, basically it's an ornament filled with all of what each member of our family is thankful for. I just got glass ornaments from Hobby lobby and printed out the paper to write our "Thanks" and stuffed them inside the ornament for each family! :)
