ORC Week 5 - Master Bedroom Re-do PROGRESS


Things are moving fast in our Bedroom Re-do, so far no glitches... yet.

First of all, WE GOT BED!


And you can see the desk/vanity peeking on the side too!
We ended up choosing the Highline Greige Upholstery bed and so far, we LOVE IT! I love the modern wing-back upholstered headbord and I liked that it didn't have tufting since I'm iffy on dust getting into them. We also got the cabinets in!

My carpenter had to add an extra cabinet up top so that there would be no space above. and I'm liking the way it looks. I opted for shaker style doors and drawers had to be remade to plain, since it was narrow, the shaker style on the drawer fronts didn't look good. I'll just figure out a way to zhush it up eventually.

I'm also adding this wallpaper to the backing of the cabinets.

I opted for peel and stick since I wanted the look of grasscloth without the hassle of the cost and application. And I got to work right away...

I love how easy it is to apply and cut and, it really looks nice.

We also got light!


I replaced one of the the can light in front of the door as you go in the room to a flush mount, and this was what I chose. I had a real hard time choosing because as you can see below, there are so many beautiful flush mounts to choose from.

Lastly, I wanted to share this...

We also got a new fan installed along with this gorgeous ceiling medallion! The fan is from LOWES and it is reasonably priced and oh-so-gorgeous! Oh and we've been using it while working on the space and it is quiet as well! Love this wooden fan!

We also had the desk assembled, got the moulding for the wallpaper wall already(I just need to wallpaper)! Carpet tiles being delivered in a day or 2, chose the lightest one. I'm crossing my fingers everything comes together nicely!

We're nearly there and hope you come back next week for the big reveal!  I'm waiting on the chest too (actually ended up choosing a diaper changing table from Target) and curtains ordered from PB and of course, I need to decorate, decorate, decorate!

ORC Week 4 - More Choices and Progress on Master Bedroom Re-do


Ok, we're almost there. ORC week 4 and if you haven't checked out all the progress, you can do so  HERE.

 And today I wanted to start off  by sharing the Cabinet hardware going into the built-ins.




I had to find the perfect campaign drawer pulls to make it similar to the desk and hopefully side table, that will go in the room, these 2 were from ROCKLER and the acrylic and brass handles were from RH. I'm so excited to see the cabinets (currently on the works at my contractors shop)!

I also need help in deciding on the carpet going in the room. I basically don't want any more carpet under the bed, just a headache for me in cleaning that part, so I opted to have carpeting around the bed so FLOR Tile is the way to go. I got my samples in, now I'm stumped. Help!

Also, I narrowed down my options to my husband's side of the bed from bedside tables to chests. The reason is since we got rid of the old huge dresser in the room, we need more drawers so I will maximize the wall with the desk, bed and chest for storage. Here are my choices...

DRESSER CHOICES
1/ 2/ 3/4/5
Currently I'm leaning towards 1, 2 or 3. Reason being the size (width) would be perfect. #4 might be too tall and not wide enough and #5 is too wide (although is my favorite). I need to order tonight, so I'm crossing my fingers I make the right decision soon!

And lastly, update on the progress on the work done...

Yes, we got the floors fixed and replaced the door casing and door! We did not have to re-do the entire floor of the house just this portion, so I am a very happy lady right now.  And we also have this...

It looks so much more lighter and better now in the room, still not move-in ready (no bed, nothing), but BETTER!

I know everyone's busy getting ready for Halloween (as are we) but with 2 weeks left, Halloween can be brushed aside for now ( at least I got my Halloween decorating done, see BELOW)! Wish me luck!

ORC Week 3 - Good news, Bad news and Choices on Master Bedroom Re-do

Can't believe we're on the 3rd week  of the  ONE ROOM CHALLENGE already and my, this past weeks have been CRAZEEEE!

First, I had to battle some illness and to top it off, I had to pack up the outdoors stuff and finish my Halloween decorations! Oh, I had to deal with a lot of school activities too! Like I said, CRAZEEE!

Ok, let's talk about my ORC now. First off with some GOOD NEWS...




Goodbye POPCORN CEILING!
Yes, despite my bedroom looking like a Decontamination room from "Outbreak", I am happy to report that the ceiling is now nice and smooth and the white paint is up. I used BEHR Polar Bear white in flat finish, the same white I use in the other bedrooms. I didn't even have to pay for it since I had so much left over and the cream paint was easy to paint over on! Hew!

Now, let me share some really BAD NEWS...

We already knew we had to replace the door and door casing going outside because of some water damage that we let go out of control. But then when our contractor was checking things on the floor, we found that we not only had water damage, we also had some TERMITES! EEEEEEEEEEWWWW!

Still, we are so lucky since the buggers did not eat up our base floor (the termite guys checked it from the basement), ate up only part of the door frame and some of the top floor (the wood floor that you see), but we do have to fix this damage and have our house treated. I called the Termite guys right away and we scheduled the treatment earlier, so that was good. Now we just need to get the floors fixed!

The carpenters are currently working on the molding for the room and ceiling and also building the built-ins off site. But for sure, the floors and this problem is TOP PRIORITY! What's good is a nice bedroom if your going to fall off of it! ;-)

And now, for some CHOICES.

I mentioned that I needed to do a lot of shopping, and I have been browsing on and off line for months (yes, I was obsessed with fixing up our bedroom without my hubby's knowledge)!


BED OPTIONS

 It's obvious I want an upholstered headboard. I just think that something soft at the back of my head is something I'd like to try, since we always had a hard headboard. Also, I like how relaxing it looks.
As you can see, I had so many choices to think about. My husband has to have a say on this too (well, at least he thinks he does ;-)) I did order the bed already, can you guess which one?  ;-)


BEDSIDE TABLE CHOICES

For my husband's side of the bed, I wanted a side table that can maximize what's left of the width of the wall, and as you can see I like the Campaign furniture look. The problem is that none of these are wide enough! I need to look for alternatives for my hub's side.

VANITY/ DESK OPTION
1/ 2

Can you spot the difference? Not much really, but the price is just crazy different. #1 is from Hayneedle for $399, #2 is from Potterybarn for $899!

 Since I really wanted a desk/vanity as a bedside table with the campaign look, these were my choices. But practicality won me over and I chose #1.

Store I'm loving right now - CB2

Hello friends!

I hope summer is going well for you all! Thank you so much for all your positive comments on my last Summer Home Tour! We are truly enjoying the fun and festive patriotic colors in our home right now and especially outdoors since this summer has not been so muggy at all.

Anyway, I thought of starting this new series since I am a 'SERIAL BROWSER" anyway, and I am just gushing over the store CB2 right now.

I know that CB2 is known for their modern furniture and design pieces, but nowadays, this store has been killing it lately with a lot of mid-century-vibed pieces and sleek modern take on iconic designs. And since retro is so IN right now, their products right now are so IN for me too! So I rounded up 12 of my favorites from this store and believe me, narrowing it down to 12 was hard!

I highlighted in Blue, the website description of some of these faves of mine. So let's get it on shall we?


Sloane White Rattan Bench
 "Natural rattan bench painted sleek hi-gloss white. Rattan is steamed and bent to achieve such attractive curves, while handmade brown leather straps finish the look with finesse." 

Truly a modern take on a palm beach staple! Love that it's made in the Philippines too!

Joni Brass and wood Coffee table

 I wish I needed a new coffee table because I think this number is just gonna be a timeless beautiful piece.
Tyler Leather Console with Stitch

I love the look and feel of leather on tables, the brass base is a 'wow' factor for me too!

Paloma Brass Cart
 You know how much I love brass, and this bar cart is full of it! Love the oval shape of it too, makes it less edgy. 

Siena Marble Base Table lamp
 "Barely there column rises from a sculptural marble and acrylic base as elegant table lamp. So chic it feels like a splurge. Pair up in the bedroom or shines solo too."

Acrylic and marble combination is always a fave, so I'm really thinking hard on where I can put this lamp in my home!

Fluted Gold Wall Sconce

A piece I think that can go inside any type of home, from modern to traditional! 

Monroe Monstera leaves Wall Decor

'Nuf said. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. Seriously a contender for my Master Bedroom makeover!

Grace Bone Inlay Floor Mirror

I love the clean lines of the pattern used in this mirror.

Scallop Black Hide Rug
Just WOW, this rug made me wish I had lighter floors. It comes in different sizes and a runner too!

Breton Black Metal Sofa & Chair
 "Designed by Mermelada Estudio, streamlined sofa evokes "the essence of French coastal living in the 1960's." Modern metal frame wears black matte powdercoat, topped with plush off-white seat and back cushions."

I actually love that this look more like a rattan piece than metal. Love the mix of modern on timeless.

Brava Dining Lounge Grey Wicker Chair
 I love the clean lines on this traditional design and the pattern on the chairs is just perfect!

Alexandria Metal Gold Chair
Last, but certainly not the least, I think every home needs at least one statement chair , and this I think , is a modern take on the Peacock chair! Beautiful!

Throw Pillow Crush

Ok, you know how it is when you go out and look for something in particular and totally find something different in the end that you absolutely love? Well, this was one of those moments.

I was browsing thru the different home decor websites when I eventually ended up at Hobby Lobby.
I won't tell you exactly what I was looking for (it's a surprise for my spring decor) but it was definitely for a new pillow. And since I thought I was done with my Blue & White Winter Decor ( you can check it out HERE), I wasn't paying much to the Blue and white pillows. But then, I SAW IT...

Don't laugh, but I just recently discovered AT HOME, and I visited the store last weekend and was just overwhelmed by the many things they have - a lot of beautiful things.

Favorite Brass and Acrylic pieces

Hello Friends! Sorry I've been a bit of a slacker when it comes to blogging, but things have been very busy in our household lately, and plus, it's SPRING BREAK, so momma kinda thinks she's on it too! LOL! Anyway, I hope to catch up on my reading and for today I am sharing something beautiful for everyone.

I know that like many of you, we have an obsession on anything brass and lucite.

It's literally everywhere right now, and even stores that normally do not carry such pieces, carry them now! And I think it's not just  a trend that will simply go away, I think, it's here to stay. And for Brass and Acrylic lovers like me, that,  is a very good thing... ;-)



What's not to love with the pieces above?! Makes me wish Sophia would grow up fast so I could change my coffee table.

I would love to change my bar stools in the kitchen now if I weren't thinking of those sharp edges. And sorry I had to put the dresser in the seating collage, since I didn't notice it there until I started making this post,  it is a favorite though. ;-)


I would love to use any of these in my home, just oh-so-lovely, and the bins and boxes have lots of possible uses too!

The fan is fabulous, but thinking of cleaning it all the time just makes me want to look at it for now. The lamps are all gorgeous, and that doggie bed? In love.

Lastly, I found this at Ballard Design....



I've always wanted these and either the cost or the DIY is a hindrance, but now I no longer have any excuse! This one is I think comes at a reasonable price and the perfect look.



So very pretty. Can you guess where in my home it will be going in?
