Updates in the Basement Guest Room

I did a few little update on our Basement Guestroom.

First I changed, the knobs on this side table...

From THIS
To THIS
Yup, I just changed the knobs. Got this lucite and brass beauty from HOBBY LOBBY

Isn't it pretty?

And for HALF OF THIS PRICE!!!!!
I also got something for the other side...

Remember this side table/shelf?
I got the perfect size now

Now opening the cabinet wouldn't be worrisome at all
But this 'Side table' still needs some sprucing up. Just some good paint I think, and it'll be done.
The best part is, IT WAS FREE.

I ordered this from AMAZON and it came with the marble top broken on one corner, they refunded me and did not ask me to send it back. It has been sitting in the box for a while, then I just thought of gluing it, and luckily the chipped corner is on the underside, so it seems like a perfect table after all!

This room is so far almost D-O-N-E!

I already finished decorating for spring and I'll be sharing that with you next week!

Hope ya'll have a Fantastic Weekend!

The other side of our Basement

CABIN FEVER is biting me real hard this winter.
Actually for me it's more like a "BASEMENT FEVER"! ;-)

After I fixed up my Decor Stash Closet in the basement, I turned my attention to the rest of this space.

When I shared with you our Updates on the Basement last summer,
I did not show you the other side of it.

The other side of this end of the room

And this is that side....

Chaos everywhere

This is the kids area mostly

This is actually the gaming area.
When I say gaming though, I mean VIDEO GAMES.
You guys know how many game consoles are out there, we luckily only have 2, but the mess it makes is just too much.
Also we have our exercise machines here too. Hence, the difficulty in decorating or organizing such a space.

This is it on a good day BEFORE
And this is this side WAY BEFORE
So last Tuesday, I did a bit of a switcheroo with the rugs.
I moved the blue geometric rug on the other side to this side...

A bit better don't you think?
The brown sofa in front of the TV was the very first one we bought (our 1st ever was a hand-me-down), and it was originally pushed against the wall. I moved it closer to the tv.

I also moved our old electric fireplace and flanked my 2 blue vintage chairs at the back to create more seating. The stationary bike & treadmill can now also get a good view of the TV.

Of course, the mismash of old furniture (yup futon has to stay for now) is still gonna be there, but for now, the space is more tolerable and pleasing to the eye.

Now we have comfy seating for us when we watch the kids play

Because everything is better in baskets
I organized their controls in these 2 baskets that I had.
And hung these beehive wall decor from Nate Berkus for Target to house their Disney Infinity and Skylander game accessories!

see
I bought these 2 wall decor a year ago on clearance and never found the space to hang these or use these until now.

Discs in place
My husband bought this shelving online and actually got me started into fixing up this area.

Definitely better
The other side
I also spruced up this side of the space by placing our old rug that has been in my closet to here, and added these 2 side tables to hold more of the kids stuff.

I still need to decorate this space more, and I'm excited, will keep you guys posted for sure.

I''m busy planning for my friends Chinese-themed 50th birthday dinner at our home, so hopefully, I can share that with you too soon!

Have a Great Weekend!

Basement Updates

I'm sure most of you are like ours.
The Basement becomes the home of old furnitures and other knick-knacks in the house that it's rarely featured on blogs.

Our is no exception. Other than the Movie Theater area (we D-I-Yed our movie screen HERE), Painting the walls and Changing the floors, it pretty much remained the same.

I did however added this...

Our counter-height table and chairs
This was what we had BEFORE

Yup, plastic table wasn't cutting it for us
I actually changed this over a year ago but just I haven't shared it to you all ;-)

Better
I got the wooden dining set from a Resale store for less than $200 and I added the 2 upholstered chairs from World Market. The picture of Chicago is from IKEA which I recently purchased.

Great view from here too
I had to have counter-height table and chairs because as you can see, part of our theater area is elevated so we needed taller chairs for sure to accommodate more people if needed ( great for big games and all).

Finally hung these too!

Check out that thing on the right....
We finally hung our favorite movie posters on the wall ( this will needs some tweaking since my oldest son is currently so into Stanley Kubrick and insists we change "TITANIC" to "2001 Space Odyssey"!), and that big "spaceship-like" chair on the right was my Christmas gift to my hubs...

Osaki 4000-T Massage chair

This massage chair was truly worth the money I think. It doesn't look great, but man, we can sit on it for a looong time and feel so relaxed and refreshed afterwards. If you want to know more about it just let me know. ;-)

Concession stand
We also got a Candy Grabbing machine as a gift from a friend last Christmas and it was added to our concession stand.

Not much change
Like I said, the basement is our cast-offs home too. So the leather sofa bed sectional sits here as well as other occasional chairs are here

My Moroccan table still has to make an appearance above ground ;-)

It's suits well here since it can provide extra-seating for watching on the big screen.

We still have our gaming & exercise area across the sectional - it's too chaotic to show just yet.

That Gallery wall needs major tweaking too

There you have it, our basement updates. We actually use this room often since we love movies and it's always nice and cool down here. I need to do a lot of tweaking as I mentioned, and hopefully, I can and I will soon. We'll see.. ;-)

Have a Nice day!
