DIY Skeleton Hand wreath and Halloween Pillow


Ok, you all know I'm not a big-time crafter, but you all know how much inspiration one can get from blogging right? And this is just the post to showcase that. 

This wreath I made for Halloween....





 was inspired by this...

This is what the hand looks like

I wanted my wreath to be bigger so I spray-painted an old charger black, wrote the "Happy Halloween" sign using gold Sharpie paint, then hot-glued the hands all around!

Ta-da!

The other DIY I/we did for Halloween are these gorgeous pillows.



I had these grey Gurli Pillow covers from IKEA and these 2 beautiful table napkins I scored from Williams and Sonoma last year.



And since I can't sew to save my life, I sought the help of my mother-in law to sew the table napkin on top of the pillow cover .  And, VIOLA - perfect Halloween pillow! No cutting was even done!

WASHI TAPE Projects in the Nursery

Thank you very much for all your wonderful comments on our Nursery Project!
You are THE BEST!

But the fun about the room is not yet over!

I will be posting a bit more about the space for two reasons: ONE,   I wanted to share with you some more details about this space like the post today, and TWO, I am neck-deep-busy(if you follow me on INSTAGRAM you know,) - threw a belly-dancing bridal shower for a friend, attended a ball (with the kids), planned Mothers day brunch with friends, went to my graduating son's field trip in St. Louis, work, Spring Concert on Thursday, then Graduation day on Friday (with an Autism conference in the morning I want to go to), and finally finishing off my week with a Graduation Party for my son on Sunday!!!! Hew! Sorry for the long litany of things I did and and will do, but Life Happens right? And though I do get tired, I am still so thankful!

Ok, so now you know, ON WITH THIS POST!
I want to share with you some simple updates I did in the room using WASHI TAPE!

Would you believe, it's the first time I used this craft material? And the only reason I tried it was because I got the tapes on CLEARANCE at TARGET?!

Now, I am officially addicted.
I WASHI-FIED this room!

Let's see if you can spot them in the room... ;-)

Added Striped Washi tape on the LAMP SHADES & the Crib!

Washi is on the top railing of the crib
How about here can you see the Washi Tape project?

Look closer...

There they are!
Even our Wipes Warmer got WASHI-fied!

Yup, Dresser top and bottom, including Mr. Giraffe got a dose of Washi too


See? front and back! And on the TV TOO!

Picture ledges become more prominent with some Washi accent too!
I love that it's SO EASY, NOT PERMANENT and REALLY PRETTY!
I know I'm gonna be applying WASHI TAPE even more so after now!!!

DIY Cherry Blossom Branches

Now that you've seen my SPRING DINING ROOM,


 I'm sure you noticed this special focal display I was bragging about too - my DIY Cherry blossom Branches.

I decided to DIY this one, because for the length and amount I wanted, Buying them would end up being too costly! Even on sale, the available Cherry Blossom branches I've looked at are either, too short, or not the right color, but mostly, EXPENSIVE.

So when I made my Spring wreath...

I thought why not use the dollar store Cherry blossom for my branches?!
I love the colors and the price was so right! However, they come this way...

Not exactly the Long Flowy branches I was picturing
So I got my GLUE GUN  and gathered some Branches outside...


And I just cut them off from the main branch and glued away.
You can see how it's connected in the close-up picture above.

I thought of adding flower tape, but really, unless your looking very closely, the attachment is hardly noticeable at all.

These were only some, I made a lot more!

I ended up getting 21 pcs. of the Dollar Store blossoms to make 25 tall branches.

Here are the other branches in the Living Room
I really am very happy with the results. 
And since I change my mind so quickly, going inexpensive and practical is the best way for me. 
Now, I'm even planning on making other branches! We'll see. ;-)

On a personal note, today my little Sophia turns 6 months!!!!!

The smile that makes my day!


Unbelievable I know, time flies so fast! But I'm happy to see how much she's grown and daily, becoming her own little person! Such a happy baby, I cannot complain one bit. Always ready to give her charming smile and always interested in every little thing!


Love you so much my sweet little girl!!!

Cherry Blossom Spring Wreath & A wonderful Surprise

Hooray! I can feel SPRING in the air  at last!

After the last winter storm on Wednesday, the snow has melted so fast, so I'm OPTIMISTIC and POSITIVE that SPRING is almost here!

And to mark this new beginning in our home I had to make our SPRING WREATHS!


Here they are!


This is what we've had the past 3 years - colors faded, dead leaves strewn everywhere.
I ended up recycling our old wreath by adding these...


Cherry Blossom from DOLLAR TREE

I just tucked on each small branch into my grapevine wreath and.....

Viola! Added back our rabbits (used the non-faded side) and hung them on our door.
So easy, I didn't even use any glue gun!

I actually got my inspiration from Andrea at Life Love Larson, check out her fabulous wreath...

She used gorgeous faux tulips on hers.
Thank you Andrea for the inspiration!

I opted to go the 'less expensive' way though, and spent $12 total for both wreaths (6 bunches on each).


Come on in SPRING!
And also, to mark of  this new beginning, I also got a great surprise in the mail yesterday...

My Advanced copy  of KRISTY WOODSON HARVEY'S ( of DESIGN CHIC fame) first novel, "Dear Carolina"!




I am so excited to read this because aside from being a long time fan of her and her mother's fabulous design blog, I have followed Kristy's journey into becoming a full-pledged novelist thru her PERSONAL BLOG! And I know SHE"S THAT GOOD, since she already has Book #2 in the works!!!! So happy for her and so proud too ( kinda like what an older sister would feel for her baby sissy)! You guys will get a chance to read this soon too for sure! I will share about it more later on at a separate post. ;-)

THANK YOU for the trust Kristy and like I always say, a big Congratulations and sending your way a big hug!

It's Spring Break in our household and although we're not going for a vacation this time around, we will be spending some hopefully, marvelous time with 'the sexiest man alive' by the end of the week!!!!!

Easy Valentine Doily Crafts

Hello Friends!

I hope that whatever team your rooting for this SUPERBOWL wins!
We are watching of course, but the highlight of our weekend was my son Aidan's 
PETER PAN MUSICAL!

AIDAN is the little indian wearing dark brown to the right
 It was truly very fun and exciting!
Honestly, even if my son did not participate in the show, I would still say that the show 
over-all was PAN-tastic!!

Oldest kid in the group is Peter (Bailee) who is still in High school

But the most important thing is that, my little AIDAN truly enjoyed this experience and had a great time feeling proud of their work and belonging to such a fantastic group of kids!
I'm betting this won't be the last! ;-)

Thank you for indulging my "stage mom" side my friends. 
And now back to my craft.

I came up with two very simple Valentine craft for this loving holiday. 
We will be out of town that day but I still wanted to come up with something special 
since it will be Sophia's 1st!

Doily Hearts Table Cover
This is truly a super easy but big bang project!

So my breakfast table has a lazy susan in the middle that added an extra layer to this simple project.

Plain jane most days
 I then created a pattern first on top of the lazy susan...
Simple patterns
 ... then Taped away underneath
Our Simple but pretty Valentines table
 I then added some bigger doily on the main table. Then taped away.


I also made this simple Doily Garland for the window...

Super simple again and budget0friendly



I got most of my doily from the Dollar Store and Hobby Lobby and still have Lots left-over.
This project cost less than $5 to make!


But of course, I could not keep the setting looking this way everyday.
So I just made a smaller Heart Doily Mat for the center of the table for daily use until Valentines day comes!

Final Touches in the Master Bedroom /Nursery

Thank you all for your positive comments on our Master bedroom/Nursery and all your well wishes for me and baby as well! They are truly appreciated!!!!

This week is the week for my baby's arrival,  and so before I go on a little bit of  'maternity break',  I just wanted to share with you the final touches of this room and the basement guest room in the next couple of days. 



Personalized crib

I added this beautiful name decal from JUSTFORYOU DECALS on ETSY...



 I know usually these decals go on the nursery wall, but since we don't have the real nursery ready yet, I put her name here! I think it's really pretty. :-) I also added the gold glitter bunting decal I got from TARGET ($12.99 for 1 set) to add to the design.

I just did the bunting on the other side of the crib
 I also added the bunting on our changing table so that the furnitures will match!



We also finished out Master Bedroom gallery wall...

I got the LOVE print from ETSY as well from MISS POPPY DESIGN.



And with all of these, this room is D-O-N-E!
