Halloween Decor in the Kids Rooms

It's almost Halloween,  and other than the house being ready, I'm knee-deep busy preparing my Master Bedroom for the coming reveal! Hope you come by in a few days  to see how much progress I've made and still need to do!

Anyway, to go with the season, let me share with you my Kid's rooms for Halloween! Let's start of in Sophia's room.

For anyone new to the blog, Sophia is my 3 year old toddler, and because she is at that age, we still have her crib-turned-toddler bed as her main bed.

Added these cute skeleton banner above her bed and changed her bedding to simple black and white
dots. These were sewn by my MIL from the flat sheet of her WHIM bedding.

Nothing scary here

Across her bed is MY BED, I mean, the DAY BED

Added the old BOO banner on the window and again some pops of black and white on the bed

Here is the proud owner of this room all decked out in, of course, black and white.

Now let's head of to my middle son's bedroom. My teenager of course "Doesn't do Halloween" anymore. :-(

Nothing complicated, just simple Halloween decor to share to you all and of course, my kids to enjoy and feel the season more. Hope you all have a wonderful and safe Halloween!

Happy Trick or Treating!

Past ORC Rooms - THEN & NOW

First of all, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH for your positive comments and compliments of my East vs. West Fall Home tour! I also appreciate all the positive thoughts and words of comfort for my recent personal issues. Words are powerful and it helps to know that I have a lot blogger friends out there who are supportive, I truly am grateful!

So today,  I want to walk a little bit down memory lane and talk about my past ORC rooms!

Ok, the next ONE ROOM CHALLENGE starts in a few weeks!

So I thought I'd revisit the past 3 ORC rooms I did and what they look like now.

1) TWEEN BOY BEDROOM - Fall 2013

It seems like yesterday when I first joined the ORC with my first born son's bedroom. He was only 13 y/o then and we wanted to fix his room up for our young man. Now he's a junior in HS applying for college and I just get a bit teary-eyed thinking he'll be living his room soon!!!

AFTER ORC

The same room NOW

We had to make the bed into a bunk bed again when we redid our other son's room, so we had to re-arrange everything in the space.

2) SAFARI GLAM NURSERY -  Spring 2015

For the 2nd time I joined, we did Sophia's nursery!  She was almost 1 year old when we did her room because as you may know, we combined her nursery initially with our Master Bedroom!

AFTER ORC

Nursery/Toddler Room NOW

Major change would be the crib into the bed. I also removed the juju hat and replaced it with a mirror, but overall, the room still works well for our young lady!

3) COMFY & STYLISH BOYS BEDROOM - Spring 2016

And for the very latest ORC room I did, it was for my middle child, who also like his brother, has become a Tween overnight! LOL!

AFTER ORC

This room has not changed much since my son still loves anything STAR WARS but he does have more Marvel and DC comic books in his book shelf than before.

I hope you can join me as I tackle the most important room in our house (for me)! Can you guess what it is?

I'll be very busy this coming week preparing for my daughter's 3rd birthday! Can you believe it?! I can't! We're having a "Moana Themed Hawaiian Party" so I'm super busy preparing for that! I hope to share it with you soon!

Have a Great weekend!

All because of a rug...

Hello Friends!!!!

I know the title may be a bit misleading if you think that that  is the reason for my being M.I.A. on the blogosphere! NO, definitely not. Instead of giving you details of why that is so, let's just say that "Life Happens", and with my kids at home and my mom visiting, life just gets darn busy! At least it wasn't anything bad right?!

The good news is that I have not stopped working around the house with little projects of ours and so I will be sharing them with you in the coming weeks,  and I hope I will be able to visit you on your blog soon!

Posted this on IG last week
Ok, so now on with this post!

I was very lucky enough to collaborate from the wonderful Rug Company called SUKHI ! In Nepalese, the word "Sukhi" means "Happy", and I can guarantee you, based on my experience with their company, that that is the exact feeling you'll get when you receive one of their products!

SUKHI is probably the best source for Hand-made rugs from Nepal, Morocco, India and Turkey. The company boasts of the low cost of these types of rugs because the get them directly from the source! Plus, they can custom-make them for you in whatever colors you like! Awesome right?!

So when I got my Nina Nepalese Ball rug (which you can buy HERE) from them to try out, it didn't reach the nursery right away since my daughter enjoyed playing on it so much!

When it finally made it to the nursery, I was at a loss as to where to put it?

By the toddler bed?

By the rocker?

Area rug for my daughters table set?

Check out more of the rug HERE

If you noticed too, I again switched the beds position! The RUG started this snowball of changes in the nursery since I guess, it was about time too! I think I should stop calling this the nursery since technically, this is now a TODDLER ROOM!

Removed the Nursery Rhyme art here before and changed it to these cute Black and White wall art from Hobby Lobby.
BEFORE

I also added these awesome $3 decals from TARGET on the lower half of the walls for some learning fun with my daughter!

Learning is best at Eye-level I think ;-)
See? All these changes all because of my lovely new rug from SUKHI (and of course my growing baby - sniff, sniff)!

Thank you Sarita for making this BEAUTIFUL SUKHI RUG!!!! We absolutely love it!
This is SARITA, the lovely lady who made my lovely rug

So in the end, the rug now sits perfectly by the bed...

Soft on the feet and good enough for me to sit on as I lull her at times to sleep...
There you have it, a lot of changes in the Nursery all because of a rug! I almost forgot to mention, these hand-made rugs, since they come directly from the makers, has a huge social impact on the lives of this women. Watch this video and see..

I am just absolutely smitten. And for sure, once another need for a rug pops up in our household, you guys know where I'll be looking! ;-)

Have a Great Week!

Nursery Changes & Juju hat update

First of all, I want to THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH for your overwhelming support and heart-warming comments regarding our citizenship! Truly, one of the best gifts of becoming a citizen is to call you all my sisters and brothers! Thank you!

I'm busy again planning for a party/gathering at our house this Saturday to celebrate this milestone, so forgive me for missing out on some of your posts. I will try to catch up next week when things slow down a bit in our household! ;-)

For now, let me just share with you some minor changes we have made in Sophia's Nursery recently..

Juju Hat out - Mirror  ( from Horchow) in!
You probably remember that last Christmas we made a switcheroo and moved the sofa bed on this wall and the crib on the other. I often sleep with Sophia so this arrangement makes more sense for the time being.

I absolutely adore the Martha Stewart WHIM line at Macy's. And I think most of my sheets for Sophia's Sofa bed is from this line, just like the dotted sheet now!  I got the typography pillow case from Target's current Pillowfort line which I absolutely love! The green dotted pillowcases were Thrift scores years ago, also from Target.

Had to move the rocker here because of the trundle bed now on the other side

Crib by the LOCKED Window is just so pretty
Since Sophia's a toddler already, she has all her play things all over the house and of course, in the nursery too!

Got the Cardboard stand and table set from IKEA
Right now, this play stand is her "TEA SHOP" with cakes and cups for us.
And as soon as she enters her room, she goes straight to her "Tea Shop" (which by the way she could clearly say now) and goes and minds her 'shop'! Her favorite though is the cash register with all the paper money and coins!
Our little Miss minding her counter

I added the paper flowers I scored from Target years ago (their available again this year).
We are all enjoying her room , and as you can see, it's little occupant too...

Before I end my post, let me share with you an update on my Juju hat woes.
I posted the photo on IG and a Juju hat retailer gave me a tip...

I followed their advise and kept my hat in the freezer for 3 days and so far it's not shedding anymore!
Hooray!
I hope to enjoy my hats for longer now!

Have a Lovely Weekend Everyone!

Sophia's Nursery Closet (Skeleton Closet No More Part 2)

Hello Friends!

Sorry for being M.I.A. for the past couple of weeks. If you follow me on INSTAGRAM, you know that I just recently ended a month long vacation with my family which included 3 weddings and 7 flights! HEW - I need a vacation from my vacation for sure!

I'll surely share some tidbits about it later on, but for now, I just wanted to show you Sophia's Nursery closet!

Removed the closet shelf that was here before
When I revealed the Nursery a couple of weeks ago, I mentioned that I still had to reveal the closet.

The closet was actually finished first, but there was one wall not done so I opted not to include it in the ONE ROOM CHALLENGE (ORC).

Added our Crib Carpet from the Master Bedroom to lighten up the flooring

Added the extra Oh Joy Petal Pusher Wall paper here!

Obviously, I had some serious fun fixing up this space!

A brief reminder of what it looked like before HERE...

Jam-packed on this side  and on the other side were all the Bedroom linen
- FOR ALL THE ROOMS!
Let me share you more details...

I finally got to hack an IKEA RAST Drawer !
I just painted this with Glidden paint, added some cool knobs I scored from Hobby Lobby way back in 2011... yes, you read is right, 2011, I actually have a POST to prove the fact! ;-)
And of course I bought added these 2" corner braces to make this dresser look campaign style.
I'm still undecided on that decal I temporarily placed behind one of the knobs.

I think they look great and if you want a great tutorial on how to hack this dresser check out

Love this meaningful decal

The mini girl bust is a recent score from the thrift!

Added Mama Brass Bear hanger to get her clothes ready before we go out
I got the beautiful flower and BE-YOU-TIFUL decal from and all the flower decal from Classy Clutter Designs in ETSY! The gold flecks trickling down are just the remnants from the flower decal itself! Nothing got waisted for sure!

Ribbons and flower head bands are contained in acrylic candy containers (Safety matters all the time)
I used during Sophia's baptism! Small TARGET easter basket holds some hats

Everything is organized by age

Got this from Maine Mom Designs (also with ETSY)

Sandals and small beach bag here, along with some sentimental items. Boxes contain cards Sophia has received.

I covered the shelf top with old  Gift bags I cut and taped underneath for more stability.

I got the Acrylic Shelves from Clear Displays.com

Hat & Bonnet display

Mini Purse Display

Shoe Display

Framed Magazine Art I got from the 15th Anniversary issue of OPRAH!
I love that now we have a beautiful space to put all of Sophia's things.

I know it's a great space for kids because every time Sophia enters this room with me, she always seem excited and want to touch everything (Who can blame her right?)!

I wish my closet were as organized and as nice as this. So in a way, I'm livin' one small dream of mine thru this little space!

Have A Great Week Everyone!!!
