Recent Scores

Just because I've been busy over the holidays for gift shopping doesn't mean I stopped Shopping for my home?!

Embroidered Blue and White Chinoiserie art work
One of my most favorite finds. I might need to have this remounted , but looks really intricate and beautiful up close!

Tarnished Brass Lady Bug

Gold Grapes

Large Brass Bag

Brass Mouse Hook

And for the piece de resistance....

A lot of PINK MILK Glass compotes and goblets!

I have always loved PINK MILK Glass and I just could not find any at the right price! Now, I have!

And finally, I posted this on my INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT before Christmas...

... it was $75 then and you all asked me to get it! I didn't, right away, and waited for a sign it was gonna be mine. So after New Year, I went to the store, and the same tree was still there (the green was sold earlier), at 25% off. I offered $50, and they gave it to me! Whooppee! This is what I call FATE (and perhaps a little bit of luck too)!!!! Patience (with luck) is indeed a virtue!

How about you, any recent scores you'd like to share?

Happy Shopping!

Vintage Toy Collection

I have slowly been collecting vintage toys over the years.

Even before I knew I was pregnant with Sophia, I have adored vintage toys and wished that I could find more reasons to buy and collect them!

And now that Sophia is in the picture, I am sure this small collection of mine will continue to grow, not just for her but for me too ;-)

Vintage Playskool Musical bell & Vintage Fisher Price Chatter phone

Todays Kids Panda Bear Rolly Polly Rattle Puzzle

Vintage Fisher Price Two Tune Television
Vintage Playskool Hourglass

And apparently, I'm not the only one loving these vintage toys!

Some of these are now being marketed again for this generation.
Fisher Price in particular is doing so, just take a look at these "re-runs"...

You can buy them thru AMAZON
... all sold at new 'vintage-looking' condition at a fair price!

In fact, Sophia got one of these for her birthday ....

Fisher Price Change-a-tune Piano

How about you, do you have a favorite vintage toy you'd love to see again or even play with again?
Any toy you consider an heirloom perhaps?

I think these are truly timeless since my daughter is enjoying all these as much as I think I did back then!

Have A Great Fall Weekend!

Estate sales vs. Antiguing vs. Thrifting

I haven't shared my finds in a while and I have been to 3 short shopping trips lately and I just thought it would be fun comparing all 3 places when it comes to bargains!

ESTATE SALE

Custom-built bench/ottoman, red velvet box,2 acrylic reindeers
TOTAL = $101

ANTIQUING

Huge Staineless Cake stand, Frames Cross-Stitched Wall Art, Hard books & Tall Brass Sail Boat
TOTAL= $29.50
THRIFTING
Stainless Server with cover, Boy and girl Bisque-finish Busts, Blue and white tealight holder with lid
TOTAL = $13

So, what do you think?
Confusing right? With each type of store (or house), it all depends on LUCK
Luck that will make you see or find the right items at the right price for your home!

Definitely diligence, patience , and not to mention, going early (especially at Estate sales) helps, but I believe, LUCK places a bigger role in whatever you score!

How about you, do you agree that LUCK plays a big role? Any recent shopping trips or finds to share? What's your latest favorite find so far?

Happy Shopping!

Recent Finds

Like I mentioned on Sunday, I also did a lot of shopping in Destin.
But of course, one my favorite stop was an Antique Mall.

Pair of Brass Giraffes - $ 32
This is my favorite find there, really beautiful but so heavy as well!
I think these can double as dumbbells if the need ever arises!

Set of 4 beautiful oriental rectangular plates -$6

Beautiful slender gold-rimmed dishes $3.50
And before I left for our break, I went antiquing with some friends at Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
These two below are my favorites.

Brass Bucket -$15

Gorgeous Federal Mirror
I'm not quite sure where to put this one yet, so I temporarily hung it by the staircase.
I know I will find the perfect spot soon, I always do, for pieces I truly love. ;-)

Shopping truly is fun with girlfriends around!
BTW, the BAR on the top pictures is where the move "GONE GIRL" was shot - Ben Affleck played the owner of this actual bar!

Hope you have  Wonderful Spring Day!

Lucite Buffet Lamp Find

You would not believe how much I got for this beautiful acrylic pair of lamps!

It's too good I can't tell ya! ;-)

So pretty!
It has a jewel-like base and the body is a gold colored acrylic column.
The only problem was -  no shade.
So I had to find the right one and it took me a while.

First I tried this…

Got this shade from Target
This shade was way too big.

Luckily I found the right one at the right price at IKEA!

EKAS shade for $6.99

Then I placed this lovely pair in the area where I am at the most - our Kitchen office.

Perfect size for this small space

It actually made another move again when I was doing my winter decorating, I'll share it with you next week!

Have a Wonderful Day!

Antiquing

While we were renovating, I got out of the house a lot.
Other than thrifting, I also visited a couple of antique malls and scored these...

Large Brass Milk Can

Brass Champagne bucket

Gold accented Decanter
Tin Server

Fire King Gold-rimmed glass bowl with lid

Letterpress Drawers/shelves

But my most favorite find is this...

A genuine Mink Shawl!!
Makes me feel glamorous! Now I just have to go somewhere fancy enough this winter to strut it around!

I know that it's not PETA-friendly, but wouldn't it be a shame to burn or destroy this thing, knowing that it was made during times we didn't know any better?! That's just my humble opinion, hope nobody takes it against me. I got it at a great price too and so I could not resist.

Have a Great Weekend!
