All because of a rug...

Hello Friends!!!!

I know the title may be a bit misleading if you think that that  is the reason for my being M.I.A. on the blogosphere! NO, definitely not. Instead of giving you details of why that is so, let's just say that "Life Happens", and with my kids at home and my mom visiting, life just gets darn busy! At least it wasn't anything bad right?!

The good news is that I have not stopped working around the house with little projects of ours and so I will be sharing them with you in the coming weeks,  and I hope I will be able to visit you on your blog soon!

Posted this on IG last week
Ok, so now on with this post!

I was very lucky enough to collaborate from the wonderful Rug Company called SUKHI ! In Nepalese, the word "Sukhi" means "Happy", and I can guarantee you, based on my experience with their company, that that is the exact feeling you'll get when you receive one of their products!

SUKHI is probably the best source for Hand-made rugs from Nepal, Morocco, India and Turkey. The company boasts of the low cost of these types of rugs because the get them directly from the source! Plus, they can custom-make them for you in whatever colors you like! Awesome right?!

So when I got my Nina Nepalese Ball rug (which you can buy HERE) from them to try out, it didn't reach the nursery right away since my daughter enjoyed playing on it so much!

When it finally made it to the nursery, I was at a loss as to where to put it?

By the toddler bed?

By the rocker?

Area rug for my daughters table set?

Check out more of the rug HERE

If you noticed too, I again switched the beds position! The RUG started this snowball of changes in the nursery since I guess, it was about time too! I think I should stop calling this the nursery since technically, this is now a TODDLER ROOM!

Removed the Nursery Rhyme art here before and changed it to these cute Black and White wall art from Hobby Lobby.
BEFORE

I also added these awesome $3 decals from TARGET on the lower half of the walls for some learning fun with my daughter!

Learning is best at Eye-level I think ;-)
See? All these changes all because of my lovely new rug from SUKHI (and of course my growing baby - sniff, sniff)!

Thank you Sarita for making this BEAUTIFUL SUKHI RUG!!!! We absolutely love it!
This is SARITA, the lovely lady who made my lovely rug

So in the end, the rug now sits perfectly by the bed...

Soft on the feet and good enough for me to sit on as I lull her at times to sleep...
There you have it, a lot of changes in the Nursery all because of a rug! I almost forgot to mention, these hand-made rugs, since they come directly from the makers, has a huge social impact on the lives of this women. Watch this video and see..

I am just absolutely smitten. And for sure, once another need for a rug pops up in our household, you guys know where I'll be looking! ;-)

Have a Great Week!

Stair Safety, A Must for every home

I was lucky to try a new product for our stairs recently.
And it couldn't have come at a better timing too.

During Sophia's birthday party outdoors, we had a small accident involving the stairs.

These steps

One of our friend slipped going up these steps and luckily someone was behind her and caught her from behind!

It would've been a bad fall indeed so I knew I had to install something to avoid any slippage and accidents from happening again.

We tried these in the past...

Grip Tape (Not our stairs but similar to what we had)

But this happened to ours too
So when I was contacted by HANDI-TREADS to try out their non-slip tread, I jumped at the chance!

Our stairs went from this...

.. to This...

Actually, before I agreed to doing this post for the company,
I researched a bit about Handi Treads myself.

I love the fact that this product will not wear out with repeated use and that " Its raised button surface grips on to your shoe or foot and provides instant traction"!

You don't have to do a lot of reading, but maybe this video will help you understand why I think this is such a lifesaver...

Installing was a breeze. You just need a drill and viola - piece of mind on the steps!

Now, we are assured of safe steps on this especially come summer time when the pool is open and everyone is wet going up and down these steps!!!!

Just wanted to share with you our family Halloween photo

Have a Wonderful Weekend!

Not all Rug pads are created equal

I recently got to try 2 different types of rug pad in my home.

The first one I used for Sophia's small Play area by our Living room.

Obviously I did not use a rug pad initially
The rug moved a lot of course since I didn't bother getting a rug pad, and definitely was hard on the back side whenever I would sit on it with Sophia.

So I was excited when I received the ULTRA-PREMIUM Rug Pad from RUGPADCORNER.COM.

Definitely thick and cushy
I chose this because according to the site, it's a rug pad that..

will not stick to your floor or break down to dust. Imagine a rug pad that does not smell like chemicals, one safe enough for kids to play on"

I thought, perfect for my little Sophia!
And perfect since I don't want any glue marks on my hard-wood floors!

Here it is now
I also got a Rug Pad for a small carpet in Sophia's Nursery Closet...

Yes, it's a CARPET ON CARPET, and because of that, the pink rug kept moving and I would straighten it out everytime I entered the space!

But after I got the NO-MUV RUG PAD for Rug on Carpet, it hasn't moved since!

I do have one complaint though, which I hope would go away in time.

THIS
The Rug Pad is so thick that it creates a space in between the 2 carpets. And since it is thick, there is quite a bit of flailing on the ends of the entire rug which I hope, will improve over time.

See the flailing edge?
The carpet has been in use now for over a month, and it has so far maintained it's cushy-feel on the feet, no glue marks on my floors and  all because of the Rug Pads I got from

And also, I'm happy to say, the flailing is almost gone too!

This last picture is a SNEAK PEEK of Sophia's Nursery Closet which I will reveal next week!

Have a Fabulous Week!
