Past ORC Rooms - THEN & NOW

First of all, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH for your positive comments and compliments of my East vs. West Fall Home tour! I also appreciate all the positive thoughts and words of comfort for my recent personal issues. Words are powerful and it helps to know that I have a lot blogger friends out there who are supportive, I truly am grateful!

So today,  I want to walk a little bit down memory lane and talk about my past ORC rooms!

Ok, the next ONE ROOM CHALLENGE starts in a few weeks!

So I thought I'd revisit the past 3 ORC rooms I did and what they look like now.

1) TWEEN BOY BEDROOM - Fall 2013

It seems like yesterday when I first joined the ORC with my first born son's bedroom. He was only 13 y/o then and we wanted to fix his room up for our young man. Now he's a junior in HS applying for college and I just get a bit teary-eyed thinking he'll be living his room soon!!!

AFTER ORC

The same room NOW

We had to make the bed into a bunk bed again when we redid our other son's room, so we had to re-arrange everything in the space.

2) SAFARI GLAM NURSERY -  Spring 2015

For the 2nd time I joined, we did Sophia's nursery!  She was almost 1 year old when we did her room because as you may know, we combined her nursery initially with our Master Bedroom!

AFTER ORC

Nursery/Toddler Room NOW

Major change would be the crib into the bed. I also removed the juju hat and replaced it with a mirror, but overall, the room still works well for our young lady!

3) COMFY & STYLISH BOYS BEDROOM - Spring 2016

And for the very latest ORC room I did, it was for my middle child, who also like his brother, has become a Tween overnight! LOL!

AFTER ORC

This room has not changed much since my son still loves anything STAR WARS but he does have more Marvel and DC comic books in his book shelf than before.

I hope you can join me as I tackle the most important room in our house (for me)! Can you guess what it is?

I'll be very busy this coming week preparing for my daughter's 3rd birthday! Can you believe it?! I can't! We're having a "Moana Themed Hawaiian Party" so I'm super busy preparing for that! I hope to share it with you soon!

Have a Great weekend!

I am NO LONGER CHICKEN

I'm usually not the type of person who does New Year's resolution or even makes big project plans for my home.

And there's a reason why. I AM CHICKEN ....

source

Yup, I'm chicken to be the kind of person who shells out a plan and does not go thru with it.
I'm chicken to make promises to others or myself I can't keep.
I'm chicken to disappoint others and myself.

But that STOPS TODAY...

source
I don't want to be CHICKEN... well at least, not the scared Chicken anyway. ;-)

I feel that wether or not I finish a project, what the heck, right?! Life goes on, nobody dies or gets hurt, I just  have to go past my ego and just place it all on the shelf of "unfinished projects" and try again someday right?

So what if I don't go thru with my New Year's resolution and end up back where I started ?! At least I could say that I TRIED right?! RIGHT.

So here it goes, let me tell you my plans:

1) Tackle the Master Closet

Like everyone, I want a nice and lovely Master Closet that I've always dreamed of, without breaking the bank (Sorry California Closet, you won't be getting my money for this one)! Tough - but doable. More deets on this later.

I want to say good-bye to these wire shelvings for sure!

Here's a sample of the "mess"

2) Re-do our younger son's bedroom.

It's just time, he'll be turning 11 soon and Dr. Seuss and The Cat in the Hat just doesn't cut it anymore for this young man.

3) Update our Dining Room

It's time too I think (Although my husband thinks otherwise), this room needs a lot of things done, not so obvious, but I'll tell you more about it later on.

4) Organize, organize, organize
Yup, I have such a closet. It's a MONSTER, literally. And my craft room and kitchen needs some serious re-organizing, AGAIN.

See?!

5) If possible, and if I still have the energy (and budget), renovate our entire FIREPLACE!!

Yup, this is how unsightly this thing looks
I have a lot of other little projects here and there, but overall, these are the MAJOR ones.

I hope you all cheer me along this home journey and hope that I can continue to be a BRAVE CHICKEN overall!

Let's Do this!

Taking back our Office and Library!

I am ashamed, but I have to be truthful.
This is a room in our house...

Yup Grapevine on the floor & swords on the desk  y'all!

Papers and books everywhere

Gauzy curtains perfect for the space!

Dad's Fix-It-Shop???

Yes, there is a wig on the coat rack & milk glass on the bins

The shredder is begging to be fed with all this junk!
I wanted to share this with you because of the ffg. reasons:

1) My life and home is no where near perfect.
2) Life happens and mess like this keeps getting pushed aside, pushed aside, pushed aside...
3) I know I/We can fix this, and that there are worse atrocities out there that are neither published nor shared (only I am crazy to do that! ;-)).

So, in between Christmas decorating and Thanksgiving preparation, I am taking back this space!
Wish me luck and lot of PATIENCE!

Don't forget!

Have a Great Weekend!

Evolution of a Boy's room

Since we are all still 'recovering' from a very busy weekend after Sophia's birthday party, this  post, will be short and sweet.

Now that my son is off to Highschool ( I feel like it's college since he will live in the school dormitory ), I wanted to look back and remember how our "little" boy's room has evolved thru out his time in our home...

2010

2012

2015
Makes me teary-eyed just looking at all the changes.

And yet, here we are with more changes - in his life for that matter!
Hoping and praying that this decision we all made together would turn out to be the best for him in the end.

I MISS HIM TERRIBLY ALREADY!Why do kids have to grow up so soon?!!!

Have a Great Week!

Another Bathroom Project - Sophia's Nursery Bathroom

Ok, please don't get tired of reading my blog just because lately, I've been on a bit of a "Bathroom Frenzy". ;-)

Well, after we finished the boy's bathroom which I shared with you HERE, we thought it was time to do Sophia's Nursery Bathroom too!

Since we finished the Nursery last April, followed by her Nursery Closet in May, we thought it was about time to finish her bathroom now.

Although it will be quite sometime before we'll let her use this room on her own, she is quickly out-growing her baby tub and would need to use her own big tub soon.

Here's what we're working on...

Ta-da! Brown 'Goodness" just like her old room was too
This room is just way too dark because I think of the wall color. So for sure, we will paint over it.

I love the brass and acrylic details of this bathroom though, just like the boys had. I think no major change needs to happen with that. Luckily for us, brass and acrylic are both "IN" at the moment.

The floors also look just fine. Generic, but fine.

Vanity/Sink area

Like in the boys bathroom, I won't be changing her vanity and mirror too.
I like the big mirror and the sink cabinet is still in pretty good shape, maybe I'll paint it up too!

I just need some art here I think and change the towel ring hardware.
I also want to change the light, something hanging perhaps.

I want a towel bar here and add something to the walls other than just paint.
I have a plan brewing in my head and I hope to share it with you soon!

We're going to Chicago for the long weekend, so hope to tackle this project as soon as we get back!

Hope you have a Great Labor Day Weekend!

Fixing up our back yard and fence

You guys already know what our back yard/ patio looks like...

Yup, looks pretty much done doesn't it?

Well, it's really not.

You see, thru the magic of editing, I usually do not share with you guys what's on either side of this deck!

And there's a very good reason why I don't because it is A MESS!

To the RIGHT

To the LEFT
We tried fixing this sloping part of the yard on our own... several times. Weeds just seem to love it here no matter what we try and the sloping land doesn't make it inviting at all!

Yup, really, really bad!
To top it all, when we moved in to this house in 2010, the part of the fence that is currently wood, was destroyed (remember, we bought this house foreclosed), so my husband put up this 'temporary' fence to close it off.

Other side
It has definitely seen better days and needs to go - fast!

And since we're replacing this fence anyway, we decided to do more changes...

.. like EXTEND the back yard over all!

Yup, we're extending on where the marks are at. That way, we have more room in the back that's fenced up, for the kids to run in.

It's a snow-ball effect I tell yeah.

So over all, this is what needs to be done:

1) Level off the ground on both sides of the patio and put some plants on it too
2) Remove the old fence and build a new  to extend the yard.
3) Cover up the pond ( oh yes, there is a pond too, small and ugly too ) and plant something nice on that area

Sounds easy looking at just 3 here on the list, but I know it is gonna be T-O-U-G-H since we started the snow ball rolling already!

Will tell you more about the plans on  my next post!

Have a Great Weekend Friends!
