Getting Original art

I won the "Art Lottery"!

Not really, but I feel like I did after getting this...

It's " ARM IN ARM" by JENNIFER DAILY.

I first saw this art work on MINTED

I searched for the artist and I was lucky enough that the original was available and the price was within reach, so I had no second thoughts and grabbed it right away!

After I bought it,  it was again featured by EMILY HENDERSON here..

When she shelled out her BEST ONLINE ART RESOURCES

...and picked 'my painting' among her favorites!

See!

Of course I have been blessed to have two KERRY STEELE watercolors from the THE PINK PAGODA in the past...

but getting this new abstract art has got me so excited again about owning originals!

It's small but hang distinctly on one of the walls as you enter the house

I love prints too, but don't you think if you could get the original, it just makes it more exciting owning the art itself?! Of course, if the original is un-affordable, the prints will suffice especially if it's something you really love right?!

Now, I try to scour affordable art print sources and try to go to the original artist's site hoping to win the 'Art Lottery' again!

Simple Bathroom Art

I did a simple quick bathroom update in our basement bathroom.

It went from this...

Used left-over wallpaper from our Upstairs Powder Room

to this...

I really thought the wall needed something more. And since I'm a huge fan of Chanel, what better way to beautify this room than with some beautiful Chanel Prints!

I only used old document frames that my husband got rid of from his office and ordered the prints from ETSY from oneBLURpictures.

The seller has a wide selection of branded art prints

I'm busy now with preparing for Thanksgiving. We're hosting again with some of our friends and their families in our home. :-) Hopefully I can start sharing some of my Christmas decorations next week!

"New" Art

I've always had this rope art work hung on one of my hallway walls.

Got the rope art from Pier 1 years ago

I love it's texture and come to think of it, goes well too with one of my rope side table.

But I recently scored this at a GOODWILL store

My $15 prize

I love the colors and simplicity and will definitely match my home for the summer when I change my decor once again.

I photo-bombed it already!

My first original Kerry Steele Artwork!

I am so happy to share with you my latest acquisition for my home… my first Kerry Steele original art work!

I have been a fan of this lady for over a year now. I first discovered her thru her BLOG, "Design Du Monde", and have been her 'stalker' ever since.

The last works in particular, sold-out like crazy! Luckily for you the The Pink Pagoda Shop just released more of this art works yesterday!

Kerry is truly a talented lady and her BLOG, "Design Du Monde", doesn't just show off her art, but her designs and tastes for the home as well! My kind of reading for sure!

As of this writing, I have just received my second watercolor to pair up with this one!

One of the perks I guess for being her 'stalker' was that I was able to request a second similar painting from her and Jennifer from The Pink Pagoda! Yey for me and a BIG THANKS to you both!

I will share it to you once I get to displaying it, I've been busy planning and preparing for my son's big birthday party this Saturday.

Loving the art at the Art Institute of Chicago

We spent my son's birthday weekend in Chicago.

He wanted to go the the Art Institute again.

I was not surprised at all because my son is a walking encyclopedia of sorts and he loves the stories and details of some of the most famous artists and art works.

So of we went and here are some of my faves from that visit.

Let's start with some European Art...

It's a huge museum and we were not able to savor and see the entire collection. 

The kids had a lot of fun, me and my hubs were the one tired of going on further (sorry kids)!
